¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

¹⁰ because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.

Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.' ²⁹ "Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.' ³⁰ "'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.' ³¹ "He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.'"

² He said: "In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry.

¹⁵ Let death take my enemies by surprise; let them go down alive to the grave, for evil finds lodging among them.

²³ In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.

⁶ The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

²⁴ The path of life leads upward for the wise to keep him from going down to the grave.
