⁶ The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;

¹⁶ All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

⁷ I thought, 'Age should speak; advanced years should teach wisdom.' ⁸ But it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding. ⁹ It is not only the old who are wise, not only the aged who understand what is right.

⁸ See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? ⁸ Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.

³ This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,

⁸ If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.

¹⁷ Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

¹ Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. ² By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
