25 Bible Verses About Fatherhood (NIV)

¹³ As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;

⁴ Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

⁷ The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.

²¹ Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.

¹ Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction; pay attention and gain understanding. ² I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching. ³ When I was a boy in my father's house, still tender, and an only child of my mother, ⁴ he taught me and said, "Lay hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands and you will live. ⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. ⁶ Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. ⁷ Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. ⁵ He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our forefathers to teach their children, ⁶ so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. ⁷ Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. ⁸ They would not be like their forefathers- a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.

³ Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. ⁴ Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. ⁵ Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.

¹⁸ Discipline your son, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to his death.

⁹ And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
