25 Bible Verses About Convictions (NIV)

¹ Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

⁷ But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. ⁸ When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: ⁹ in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; ¹⁰ in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; ¹¹ and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

²⁵ As Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, "That's enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you."

⁸ When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, "Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!"

⁵ "Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty."

¹ From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the LORD his God. ² He said: "In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry. ³ You hurled me into the deep, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me. ⁴ I said, 'I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.' ⁵ The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. ⁶ To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you brought my life up from the pit, O LORD my God. ⁷ "When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, LORD, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple. ⁸ "Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs. ⁹ But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the LORD." ¹⁰ And the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

²⁰ "See, O LORD, how distressed I am! I am in torment within, and in my heart I am disturbed, for I have been most rebellious. Outside, the sword bereaves; inside, there is only death.

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

¹³ This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

⁶ "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."

³⁷ When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

⁹ At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.

¹ O LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. ² For your arrows have pierced me, and your hand has come down upon me. ³ Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; my bones have no soundness because of my sin. ⁴ My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear. ⁵ My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly. ⁶ I am bowed down and brought very low; all day long I go about mourning. ⁷ My back is filled with searing pain; there is no health in my body. ⁸ I am feeble and utterly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart. ⁹ All my longings lie open before you, O Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you. ¹⁰ My heart pounds, my strength fails me; even the light has gone from my eyes. ¹¹ My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds; my neighbors stay far away. ¹² Those who seek my life set their traps, those who would harm me talk of my ruin; all day long they plot deception. ¹³ I am like a deaf man, who cannot hear, like a mute, who cannot open his mouth; ¹⁴ I have become like a man who does not hear, whose mouth can offer no reply. ¹⁵ I wait for you, O LORD; you will answer, O Lord my God. ¹⁶ For I said, "Do not let them gloat or exalt themselves over me when my foot slips." ¹⁷ For I am about to fall, and my pain is ever with me. ¹⁸ I confess my iniquity; I am troubled by my sin. ¹⁹ Many are those who are my vigorous enemies; those who hate me without reason are numerous. ²⁰ Those who repay my good with evil slander me when I pursue what is good. ²¹ O LORD, do not forsake me; be not far from me, O my God. ²² Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior.

⁵ I spoke once, but I have no answer- twice, but I will say no more."

²⁴ Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned. I violated the LORD's command and your instructions. I was afraid of the people and so I gave in to them.

¹³ "No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

²⁶ Calamity upon calamity will come, and rumor upon rumor. They will try to get a vision from the prophet; the teaching of the law by the priest will be lost, as will the counsel of the elders.

¹⁹ You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder.

³⁰ He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

⁴⁴ "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.

³² The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here.

⁷ Now Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was going on. And he was perplexed, because some were saying that John had been raised from the dead,

¹⁷ Every hand will go limp, and every knee will become as weak as water.

¹⁶ All who survive and escape will be in the mountains, moaning like doves of the valleys, each because of his sins.

⁹ But if I say, "I will not mention him or speak any more in his name," his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot. ¹⁰ I hear many whispering, "Terror on every side! Report him! Let's report him!" All my friends are waiting for me to slip, saying, "Perhaps he will be deceived; then we will prevail over him and take our revenge on him." ¹¹ But the LORD is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonor will never be forgotten. ¹² O LORD Almighty, you who examine the righteous and probe the heart and mind, let me see your vengeance upon them, for to you I have committed my cause. ¹³ Sing to the LORD! Give praise to the LORD! He rescues the life of the needy from the hands of the wicked. ¹⁴ Cursed be the day I was born! May the day my mother bore me not be blessed! ¹⁵ Cursed be the man who brought my father the news, who made him very glad, saying, "A child is born to you-a son!" ¹⁶ May that man be like the towns the LORD overthrew without pity. May he hear wailing in the morning, a battle cry at noon.
