25 Bible Verses About Arguing (NIV)

¹ A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

²³ Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. ²⁴ And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.

¹⁹ Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

⁹ But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

²² An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins.

¹ Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, ² to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.

¹⁰ Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

¹¹ A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.

³⁰ Do not accuse a man for no reason- when he has done you no harm.

¹ Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters.

¹¹ A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

¹ An unfriendly man pursues selfish ends; he defies all sound judgment. ² A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.

⁴ Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself.

¹⁴ Do everything without complaining or arguing, ¹⁵ so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe ¹⁶ as you hold out the word of life--in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. ⁵ It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. ⁶ Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. ⁷ It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. ⁸ Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. ⁹ For we know in part and we prophesy in part, ¹⁰ but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. ¹¹ When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. ¹² Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. ¹³ And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

¹⁴ Keep reminding them of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen.

¹⁷ But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

¹⁴ Do everything without complaining or arguing,

¹⁹ Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.

⁹ Do not speak to a fool, for he will scorn the wisdom of your words.

¹⁸ A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.

³ It is to a man's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.

¹⁶ Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
